| In Collections, content is organized with a taxonomy that
reflects the needs of the users of the information. Content is referenced in Collections in the form of links to
Master Catalogs or
Logs where the actual content is
stored and organized according to the Information Manager's needs.
A Collection can reference content in any practicable number
of Master Catalogs and Logs.
Any practicable number of Collections can draw on any
practicable number of Master Catalogs and Logs.
The upper Collection shown, 'International Alphabet
Analysis, Word Type (Collection)' classifies the names given to the
letters in the International Alphabet according to the type of word
used. The lower Collection shown, 'International
Alphabet Analysis, Character Count (Collection)' classifies the names
given to the letters in the International Alphabet according to the
length of word used, that is, the length of the string.
In both Collections, the References call up links to the
explanatory document stored in the Master Catalog 'International
Alphabet (Master Catalog)'.
Collections enable multi-axial classification. The
single document 'Delta', for example, is classified here in two wholly
different ways yet there is only one document. The one document is thus
available in three Knowledge Bases. |
